Monday Night Hockey

Amazon Prime Video

On-Screen Design
Motion Graphics

Ignite were commissioned by streaming giant, Amazon Prime Video, to design and deliver the entire program and game graphics package for NHL Monday Night Hockey. Showcasing this tough, raw and dynamic sport, the Ignite team reflect that in their visual approach, showcasing the Prime Video brand without alienating the die-hard Monday Night Hockey audience.

Ignite capitalised on a single-minded thought; the puck is everything. The puck is at the heart of the action and naturally became the Monday Night Hockey brand mnemonic; as both on-screen timer, visual navigator and brand motif.

The approach acknowledged the traditions of the game whilst pushing the sport’s design boundaries aesthetically.

A careful balance of 3D and 2D motion graphics delivered a look that was purposefully punchy, raw and tactile indesign and bang on brand, with the ‘Prime Puck’ as the keystone of the graphic system. Ignite used this Prime Puck not only as a branding device but a functional tool to add to the viewer experience, particularly with the ‘PowerPlay’ countdown which is a unique element that has been praised by production and the wider audience alike.

With a tight turnaround and an expansive deliverables list, both Ignite teams in London and Auckland collaborated to create the Opening Titles, In-Show Bumpers and Match Graphics amongst the prestigious livery.

The designs were passed onto Amazon’s production partners including AE Live who built the Vizrt package, integrating with Amazon and the NHL data providers.
